Dinner Rolls

Ingredients: yields 16 rolls

1 cup water

2 Tbsp butter, softened

1 egg

3 1/4 cups flour

1/4 sugar (I do a scant 1/4)

1 tsp salt

3 tsp yeast

More butter, melted, to brush on top

Place all ingredients (except the additional melted butter) in a bread machine and run the dough cycle. Line a cookie sheet with a silpat, parchment paper, or butter. Divide dough into 16 pieces (weigh them dough to be fancy and precise). Gently shape each piece into a ball. Place on prepared cookie sheet. You can brush melted butter on top now if you would like, but it’s not necessary. Cover and let rise for 30-40 minutes or until double in size.

Preheat oven to 375F and bake for 12 minutes or until golden brown. Brush the tops with melted butter (don’t skip this brushing or they simply just aren’t worth it). Serve warm!

Recipe adapted from Katie’s mom.
